Miista On Tour. Next Stop: Copenhagen Fashion Week

Hanna Stefansson at Miista Copenhagen Fashion Week Event

For our first Copenhagen Fashion Week we decided to pack only the essentials, a hundred pairs of our favourite boot Carlota. Immersed in an interactive showroom installation guests were invited for cocktails and canapés and to select their favourite Carlota in the most popular winter colours.

Carlota Boot. Miista Presentation for CPHFW

We couldn't find a better place for our event than this charming contemporary art gallery in the middle of the city: Birch Copenhagen.  Instead of a classic Fashion Week presentation, our idea was to create something more playful and interactive, combining art and fashion.

The subject of our installation, the iconic Carlota boot is a part of is a self-aware AW19 collection designed to re-engage and reconcile natural materials with technology, in appreciation of collaboration, creativity and empathy: the cures to our own ambivalence. Using our signature boot as a building block we constructed a human-size pile of shoes where you couldn't tell where the heel starts and the square toe ends. Fashion Week is always the centre of attention but it was nice to remind ourself yet again:
it's not that serious.

Copenhagen Fashion Week's renowned across the globe for their devastatingly cool brands and stylish creatives. It comes as no surprise that Scandinavian influencers were joined by top bloggers from Paris, NY and LA. Our event was attended by international press, bloggers and influencers and we caught up with some of our favourite bloggers to find out why Copenhagen is so well dressed.

Laura Tønder, Designer at Coster Copenhagen, content creator and optimistic dane says:
"The trick is to wear multiple prints and crazy patterns on a daily basis. Just not together."

Marta Cygan swears by an easy blazer, crisp bob paired with high-waisted pants and boots.

Alyssa is an editor turned influencer with a sweet tooth for sheer tops, puffy sleeves and stylish checkered prints. She's NY-based but felt right at home on the streets of Copenhagen with flowy silhouettes and buttermilk coloured boots.

Hanna is a big fan of flowy silhouettes and pairing them with a pair of structured boots. Take a mental note on a colour combo of purple silk and mahogany leather.

María Bernad believes that vintage is the most exciting and sustainable form of fashion. In Copenhagen, Paris, NY and everywhere else. Look at her purse. It's vintage with a painted on shrimp!

Other things we've learnt from the best during the event:

1. The more pattern clashing the better but it helps if an outcome resembles a fruit salad. Pair your snake-embossed boots with a snake printed silk dress or a skirt covered in dots.

2. Sometimes it looks too good to eat but in Copenhagen, it's impossible not to enjoy the plant-based cuisine. Edible flowers added colour and texture and so much joy to our canapes. And they're all inspired by local Danish flavours.

 3. Power-beiging is not going anywhere. Shades of taupe, buttermilk and beige are still the most convenient transitional colours you can use.

3. We're still very much infatuated by the small non-functional mini bag. Everyone in Copenhagen had their mini bag in one hand and their oversized phone in the other.

4. Carlota might just become the most spotted shoe at Copenhagen Fashion Week. She features a comfortable leather-covered block heel and softly squared toe. Each boot is made from embossed leather or sheep patent and features a cow vegetable tan leather lining with a memory foam cushion.
